We have an exciting opportunity at our Perinville Road service in Torquay, where you will join our friendly and inspiring team as a Support Worker. Your role will be a 12 month fixed term position covering maternity leave, working full time, 37.5 hours per week based in the service. You will need to be able to work flexibly as you will be working on a rota basis which can include days, weekends and nights. Our Perinville Road service is a CQC registered housing service providing a 24/7 supported living service for individuals stepping down from a secure or acute inpatient setting . We provide a supportive home environment that paves the way to greater independence and recovery. We help people with their day to day living and social skills, as well as providing access to social activities, further education, employment and training. What will you be doing? You will be supporting someone in their daily activities and helping them lead a fulfilling life, this can involve things like, * Helping with personal care * Supporting with medication * Providing encouragement with household tasks such as laundry, cooking and cleaning * Supporting to learn new skills, achieve their dreams and ambitions * Assisting people pursue their interests and hobbies * Working with other mental health professionals and the family/friends of the person being supported Do you have what we are looking for? * A great relationship builder, working directly with the people who live in our service * A good understanding of mental illness, gained either through work or personal experience * Willing to work towards, an NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care (or equivalent) * Good communication and organisational skills Ideally, we would like you to have some experience or understanding of Mental Health however Support Work isn't all about qualifications.
