Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Junior Software Developer to join the team. In this role, you will join an Agile Development team which develops and maintains our insurance software products using C#, ASP.Net MVC, and SQL Server. You will be responsible for developing solutions to user stories and defects to meet the agreed acceptance criteria. You will be required to research problems, research various solutions, and devise fixes for those problems. The role focuses primarily on new development and maintenance of existing applications. They must be able to work in a collaborative environment where the team is a self-managing cohesive unit striving to constantly improve its velocity in delivering high quality business software on time. RESPONSIBILITES + Complete all developer-level duties, including creating, maintain and modifying code, as well as developing and improving coding standards and procedures + Implement solutions which focus on re-use, extensibility and maintainability + Work closely with peers, such as Developers, Product Owners, Test Analysts and Dev Ops team members to ensure that user stories are delivered as a team to the required standard + Understanding business objectives and suggesting strategies to meet them through technology innovation + Enhancing existing software by analysing and identifying areas for refactoring, optimisation and code clean up + Have an active input into Agile ceremonies such as product backlog grooming, release planning, retrospectives and reviews + Pursues a program of self-development through the use of selected reading, seminars, and participation in continuing education. + Identifies and communicates possible improvements in the work process for customers and peers. QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS JOB + Ideally Educated to degree level (BSc or BEng) or equivalent in Computer Science or a related discipline + 1+ year of experience in enterprise software development using C# and Visual Studio + Experience with ASP.Net MVC a plus + Experience or training creating SQL scripts or queries (SQL Server preferred) + Unit testing knowledge preferred + Experience with source control (Git, TFS) + Experience with code refactoring/analysis tools such as Resharper preferred + Experience or training with Agile Scrum or Kanban methodologies a plus + Excellent communicator and team player with an ability to work with others in a team-oriented environment WHO WE ARE + LEADING GLOBAL PROVIDER OF CLOUD-BASED INSURANCE SOFTWARE- Applied Systems develops the top two Insurance Agency/Broker Management software products in the world.
