Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist
Overview
Job Description
Principal Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychotherapist for the PICT (Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training) team, Adult Mental Health Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder Pathway What's special about this opportunity? Berkshire NHS Trust has been working to develop a comprehensive care pathway for people with a diagnosis of EUPD (Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder). This is an exciting development for patients and staff to ensure that people with this diagnosis are offered equitable, accessible and evidence-based care for these very complex difficulties. Alongside this already exciting programme of change, Frimley Integrated Care System has been awarded new NHS funding to transform community mental health services for people with serious mental health problems. A ground breaking new model is being implemented within Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust and Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to benefit those primary care patients who experience serious mental health problems. One aspect of this is to enable the transformation of care for people with a diagnosis of EUPD within what has been known as Primary Care settings. Our new PICT Service (Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training Team) has been newly established to provide consultation and training to staff both within Berkshire Healthcare, but also within East Berkshire's Primary Care Networks as part of this exciting initiative to transform how care is delivered in the community. We are looking for the right person to work in and help shape our new PICT (Psychologically Informed Consultation and Training) team. This is a rare opportunity to bring together experienced psychologists and psychotherapists with expertise in working with EUPD, and to play a core role in supporting the delivery, continuous development, and governance of the Trust's newly developed Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) care-pathway. The evidence-based care pathway will be delivered by multi-disciplinary DBT, MBT and SCM teams across the Trust and PICT will offer the supervision, training, co-working and direction to underpin a positive, cohesive and confident approach to the work. PICT will support colleagues in all services across the Trust, our Out of Area Placements Team, Our East Berkshire GP's surgeries and within our partner providers to gain the skills and approach to work effectively with the client group. Who will I be working for? Berkshire Healthcare is committed to compassionate care and recently retained its 'Good' CQC rating. It offers the full range of mental health and community services, and psychologists contribute to these as integrated members of clinical teams. Whilst there is a strong ethos of multi-disciplinary team working, you will also be part of a network of psychological therapists across Berkshire. We have excellent links with the Oxford Clinical Psychology Course, Reading University and the Charlie Waller Institute and provide regular trainee clinical and counselling psychologist, and psychotherapist placements. PICT functions as a branch of IMPACTT (Intensive Management of Personality-Disorder and Clinical Therapy Team). IMPACTT is a specialist service which delivers DBT and MBT for people with a diagnosis of EUPD, and you will report to the PICT Consultant Psychologist. You will be supported to develop your training, consultation and supervision skills to enhance the well-being of our clients and staff. We are pioneers in compassionate leadership and Quality Improvement, which is about creating a culture where everyone has a voice and where service users and staff collaborate to have a direct impact on the things that matter most. About You An innovative and forward-looking clinical / counselling psychologist or psychotherapist with post-qualification training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT), and/ or Structured Clinical Management (SCM) etc, with a substantial record of working with complex, often challenging and high risk presentations within multi-disciplinary settings. You are someone who enjoys working with service users and clinical colleagues to enable people with a diagnosis of EUPD to achieve their potential and have a record of training, supervising and consulting to others to effectively share skills and understanding and enhance outcomes. You are someone who believes in the vision of changing the culture around how this group of people are managed within mental health services and are excited by the challenges of enabling and supporting this. What's Next? If you share our passion for people and the dedication to excel, we'd love to hear from you. We are happy to answer any questions that you may have.
