THE ROLE Back-end Developer, Shrewsbury Start date: Immediate Salary: Competitive dependant on experience Position: Full time WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? We're a small (29+) but fast-growing company, focused on building and supporting solutions for merchants on the Magento Commerce platform. We're looking for confident, self-motivated individuals who work well in team environments. You should be comfortable working alongside developers, clients and designers alike to deliver relevant and reliable solutions with attention to detail being a key focus. You'll also need to be passionate about new technology and 'making things work'. Having experience developing PHP applications is a must, plus ideally some commercial experience of Magento. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES * Write code to written technical specifications and coding standards * Assist with decision making on appropriate solutions and creation of specifications * Investigate, analyse, document and fix reported bugs * Promote quality standards and processes and work with developers to achieve these through regular code reviews * Communicate regularly with team members to provide an understanding of technical requirements, plans and dependencies REQUIRED SKILLS * Experience with building PHP 5/7 applications * Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and design patterns such as Model-View-Controller (MVC) * A solid understanding of MySQL, XML, HTML & CSS * A basic understanding of JavaScript * A basic understanding of version control systems (git in particular) DESIRABLE SKILLS * Experience developing solutions (creating modules) for Magento 1 or 2 * Magento 2 is preferred * Expertise in MySQL and experience with Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) * A solid understanding of JavaScript and frameworks/libraries such as jQuery, RequireJS and KnockoutJS * Especially within the context of Magento 2 * Comfortable working on the command-line * A solid understanding of git workflow, including pull review process WE OFFER A RANGE OF BENEFITS INCLUDING * 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) * 2 duvet days per annum to take as required * Day off on your birthday * Annual appraisal and pay review * Magento solution specialist certification training and testing * Macbook Pro * Annual conference budget * No dress code HOURS You will be working from our head office in Shrewsbury, between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday.
