Location/Division Specific Information Job Profile Title: Engineering Manager Group/ Division: Laboratory Chemical Division Number of Direct Reports: 8 How will you make an impact? To lead and maintain the Loughborough engineering facility (processing plant, equipment & infrastructure) to the standards required for effective operation in line with all regulatory requirements. To manage the introduction of new processes and services through an agreed change and capital investment process. What will you do? * Maintain existing plant, equipment and site services and identify essential equipment or process improvements in conjunction with the Production Operations Manager and to project manage improvements from data acquisition through to implementation. * To oversee project work offering guidance and support to those responsible for the management of the project. * To play a vital support role in EHS matters, (eg Compliance Manual) and to take on responsibility as required. * Ensure departmental activities meet Company requirements for quality management, EHS, external legislation and general duty of care and best practice. * Maintain and develop a team of suitably skilled and motivated staff through recruitment and training & development, according to company policies and employment laws, ensuring relevant HR procedures are followed (PMD, discipline, grievance, etc). * Monitor and report on activities and provide relevant management information to the Site Leader and others within agreed formats and timescales - site key Performance Indicators (KPIs) * Manage and control departmental expenditure (including AOPs and Capital) within agreed budgets. * Effectively perform your duties whilst acting at all times in accordance with the Dignity at Work Policy, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and our values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement. * Embrace and participate in PPI initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business. * To suggest and implement improvement of the site engineering with regards to efficiency, safety and efficacy based on data. * To encourage best practice based on industry standards How will you get here? * Bachelor's degree, in a science / engineering based subject, preferably Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering. * Solid experience within a production facility with proved track record spent in an Engineering leadership role; ideally within a COMAH compliant Solvent distillation or Chemical batch manufacturing site * Possesses a comprehensive knowledge of equipment installation and maintenance with knowledge of all current UK legislation and guidance. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * Comprehensive knowledge of equipment installation and maintenance in a multi functional environment. * Understanding of COMAH requirements for a lower tier site. * Project Management and Risk Management experience Knowledge of hazardous area classification and protection methodology. * An understanding of fire protection systems * An understanding of equipment validation and verification.
