About the role: As the Electronics Design Engineer, you will work closely with the design team throughout the product lifecycle to develop hardware in accordance with the company quality systems. Keen to develop and contribute to a vibrant, technology-focused business. The role is office based but travel may be required from time to time. Responsibilities: * All aspects of Electronic design (both analogue and digital), from concept to completion * Production and maintenance of electronic engineering to a high standard * Ensuring full, complete compliance with QED's Quality Management System, specifically where hardware is related to some of our accreditations * Ensuring a cost-effective solution is reached, within time budget * Involvement in project planning and implementation, ensuring effective communication of anticipated timings for hardware requirements and delivery to these * Evaluation and identification of new technologies for review or implementation * Ensuring that hardware can be delivered and implemented on both a local and global level, within QED and its group of companies Essential skills / experiences: * Thorough understanding of fundamentals of electronic design, both analogue (such as amplification circuits) and digital * Good understanding and experience of PCB layout including multi-layer designs and EMC * Embedded circuit design experience using microcontrollers, such as the ARM Cortex as an example * Ability to communicate at all levels, both written and orally and to work effectively with third parties such as accreditation bodies and PCB layout companies * Good Degree or equivalent in an electronic engineering discipline * Extensive experience in a commercial design environment * Experience of electromechanical design and liaison with a mechanical design engineer for product assembly * Extensive experience in full life cycle product development Desirable skills / experiences: * Experience in instrumentation design * Knowledge and experience of using ORCAD circuit design tools * Knowledge of ATEX and intrinsically safe systems * Working with outsource design agencies Proven Quality.
