Job Description

Company Description Over the last 14 years Harley Therapy has connected individuals to the highest calibre practitioners in private practice, working to improve their mental health and lead more fulfilling lives. We work relentlessly to raise the standard of psychological support in the private sector, and align ourselves with the most selective group of therapists and psychiatrists. You will commit to a minimum of 10 hours, and there is scope for more hours. We are looking for practitioners who can see patients 4pm onwards weekdays plus a Saturday or Sunday. We facilitate clinical practice by operating consulting rooms in desirable locations , generating a steady stream of new referrals and providing administration support , if desired, for new and existing patients. Harley Therapy therefore enables self-employed practitioners to do what they are best at - clinical work. You are solely responsible for your practice and management of your caseload, and as a qualified and competent practitioner you control and operate your practice in the best interests of your patients. You must be an up-to-date member of the GMC, working within their guidelines and codes, and insured . This position may suit someone wishing to supplement NHS work, or wishing to enter private practice as part of a network of high calibre, dedicated and clinically-minded practitioners. Qualifications Patients who contact Harley Therapy typically benefit from seeing practitioners with the following qualifications and skills: * You are MRCPsych, on the specialist register and have GMC registration. * You have at least 5 years of clinical work experience, preferable many more. * You have experience of working in the NHS. * You can work with a wide range of presenting difficulties including severe psychiatric conditions. * You exercise full clinical responsibility for your patients' care and treatment. * Preferably can see adults as well as children and adolescents. * You are sympathetic to therapy and refer to psychologists/psychotherapists as part of treatment where relevant. * You see the clinical importance and value of being loyal, hard working and committed to patients and to your professional development. * You are competent with technology - able to use an online appointment system and can respond to emails promptly. * Although you have full autonomy of your clinical work, you will work in a manner that presents both you and the group professionally at all times, and preserves Harley Therapy's reputation. Benefits: * Harley Therapy can provide a steady stream of suitable patient referrals for your set hours of availability. * You will gain from Harley Therapy's wealth of experience in practice management of psychology, psychotherapy and psychiatry in the private sector. * You can benefit from in-house marketing, PR and advertising initiatives driven by Harley Therapy. * A comprehensive administrative service open 7 days a week, ensuring that new referrals can be made and existing patients can communicate effectively with you. You have access to a custom built app to manage your bookings. FEEDBACK FROM DR HUMPHRIES ABOUT WORKING AT HARLEY THERAPY (2008-current): "Prior to joining Harley Therapy I had worked in the NHS for 28 years as a Consultant Psychiatrist from 1991. What I have found is that working privately allows much more time for concentration on clinical work, without so many of the non-clinical duties associated with the NHS role. It is more of, in effect, what I was originally trained to do, which was to see patients and try to make them function better. I have found private practice extremely rewarding in that respect. An important feature of a private service is an effective, professional and readily available administrative service as well as a quality website. Patients in private care are shopping for the brand that they think will suit them, and first impressions are so important. I have to say that the admin support at Harley Therapy is by some distance the best I have ever experienced in all my time in medicine. The administrators are organised, careful and very polite and professional with patients. The electronic booking system works very well, and all aspects of booking and review take place without me having to worry about them. The transcription service is quick and accurate, and all done via email voice files. The website is extremely good and many patients complement us on it, its usefulness and its ease of access. All in all I have been and remain highly impressed by the Harley Therapy team." (written by Dr Humphries May 2015) Note: To prevent any conflicts of interest, this opportunity is not suitable if you intend to work simultaneously in private practice in Harley Street or nearby
