How you'll spend your time... Leadership As our Principal Product Manager (PPM), you will work in partnership with the Product and Engineering teams for our large scale, high precision tote storage system know as 'The Grid'. You will inspire, lead and build a product organisation that is capable of delivering upon today's commitments and years to come. You will determine the product strategies and initiatives for Grid development based on analysis and value proposition and lead the delivery and Engineering teams to realise products that meet these. Our PPM will also evangelize the product vision so all stakeholders are aligned, have context, and understand where we are going. Product Knowledge Your product knowledge will help you to see your product through the eyes of your customer, deeply understanding their problem spaces and how users experience the system, end to end. Using this knowledge, you will collaborate with stakeholders to create a roadmap that meets the customer needs as well as use performance data to identify ways to improve the product and make adjustments based on strategic goals. Prioritisation & Validation Our PPM community is committed to balancing competing priorities, resource constraints and dependencies to maximise value delivered over time across a variety of newly developing products as well as existing products in the field. You will initiate and sponsor projects throughout the product's lifetime in conjunction with the agreed product strategy and roadmap. You will be tracking, reporting and forecasting for Bot products through processes you will develop and will communicate this to senior leadership as part of the Product Planning & Governance process. Stakeholder Management Building a strong network within Ocado, you will communicate with senior stakeholders, discerning appropriate detail and cadence as well as facilitating effectively to achieve agreement with groups of external and/or senior stakeholders who may have different goals or motivations. In order to achieve this, you will put in place processes and practices to enable effective communication with stakeholders. Problem Solving You will use qualitative and quantitative methods to understand customer/business needs and opportunities as well as creating opportunities for your product team to grow their skills in gaining customer insight You will need to provide clarity to product teams to focus them on the most important problems that deliver value against the key business metrics in their product area and understand the importance and urgency of decisions and make trade offs to get great outcomes. Are we right for you? We want to speak to you if you have a strong understanding of product management and product leadership. Ideally, you will have experience of leading a product team - even better if this was in the Technology or Automation space. If you have good knowledge of complex mechanical and structural systems, and a sharp analytical mind, this could be the role for you. Kudos if you also have experience of managing a range of products from cost-benefit analysis to launch - especially if this was in multiple territories. We're interested in collaborative candidates, who can manage relationships with internal and external clients and have the ability to see the bigger picture.
