KeyRing are looking for four Community Living Volunteers in our Oldhmam networks of Failsworth, Shaw, Littlemoor and Chadderton. Community Living Volunteers give advice, information and support to KeyRing Members and help them lead ordinary lives and to make connections in their local community. We are looking for volunteers who can offer support in a flexible and creative way. Who Are KeyRing? KeyRing are a not for profit organisation and their aim is to support vulnerable people to live independently. KeyRing focuses on the assets of the people we support and other people in the communities in which they live. We provide support to over 1000+ people across England and Wales, from KeyRing networks to Self- Advocacy. Role of the Community Living Volunteer: As a Community Living Volunteer you could be offering: * Information, advice and support on practical matters relating to Members' tenancy e.g. reminding KeyRing Members to pay their rent and bills, ensuring Members understand that they must comply with tenancy conditions such as the upkeep of their flat and/or helping Members with benefits forms; * Reassurance and emotional support, e.g. helping a Member gain confidence to go somewhere new, supporting someone develop friendships in a positive way, sympathetic support when someone has had bad news; * Encouragement for Members to help and support each other in solving problems and sharing their knowledge e.g. helping Members organise the monthly Network meetings, prompting when Members can help each other, prompting social connections and activities so Members are not isolated; * Support to make connections in their local community, attend and take part in local activities, joining sports and social groups, volunteering and finding employment. This role needs a volunteer who: * Will live within the network area; * Can offer support in a flexible and creative way when needed; * Can offer approximately 14 hours of this support - time spread through the week; * Can see Members in the evenings and the weekends; * Will not mind Members phoning to ask for support or a chat; * Will respond to emergencies (but you are NOT expected to be "on-call").
