Job Description

Bromley Home Treatment Team Manager, Band 7 Bromley Home Treatment Team(BHTT) is a part of the mental health crisis services for the adult population in the Borough of Bromley with a 24 hour service provision to meet the needs of the residents of Bromley. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to manage and lead the team. This post will be an exciting and challenging role for an individual who has proven management potential and a genuine desire to influence and lead clinical practice within the crisis mental health service area. This exciting opportunity is suitable for a Registered Mental Health Practitioner with recent experience in an acute mental health setting at Band 6 or above. You should enjoy working within a busy and challenging environment, and must be able to work effectively under pressure. You will have a sound knowledge of mental illness and therapeutic interventions and competence in independent mental health assessment. You will be creative and innovative in your approach, and will work collaboratively with patients and their carers in the formulation of care and crisis plans. You must demonstrate ability to effectively liaise with other mental health teams, the local authority and emergency services. The successful candidate will need to show good role modelling and strong clinical leadership skills by promoting a supportive and compassionate approach to service users. The team is actively involved in a number of quality improvement initiatives and will be part of the Trusts ongoing strive for excellence within modern Mental Health Services. This post holder must be an expert practitioner, and a source of expert advice to the BHTT, with overall responsibility for clients under the BHTT and operational management of the team on a day-to-day basis. The role also entails managing the duty roster to ensure spend is within the allocated budget. You will have responsibility for the supervision of staff and any other responsibilities as identified by the Borough Crisis Manager. You will deputise in the Manager's absence. In addition to the above an in-depth knowledge of the Care Programme Approach and the relevant experience of working and supervising staff within a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal, and an understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983. Home Treatment Team is experience essential. You will chair BHTT MDT meetings, Quality Meetings and other meetings as required for the effective running of the service. This senior clinician's role will include timely and appropriate response to clients experiencing mental health crisis and ensuring robust assessment are carried out to determine safe and effective treatment plans are implemented. Your aim will be to improve patient experience utilising up to date knowledge and systems to accurately assess presenting clinical risks and needs. The post holder will be competent and confident in positive risk taking and will support other mental health practitioners to develop skills in positive risk taking that will promote patient autonomy and avoid admissions which are not supported by clinical need. The post holder will work to reduce admissions through effective screening of all admissions and signposting patients safely to other services including community MH services. The post holder will also provide clinical supervision and review Performance and Development Reviews(PDR) to band 6 nurses in the team.
