Job Description

This position will provide technical support to Production and Engineering. Provide effective feedback to Engineering and to improve design for manufacturability. Document completed assemblies to assist Operations Excellence (OPEX) in defining efficient routings, build processes and cycle time reduction. Aid in the building process for prototypes and other technical requests meeting strict deadlines. Essential Functions + Mentor assemblers and provide constructive feedback on work product + Identifies overall individual technical performance, make recommendations for improvement and provide on-going feedback + Implement and install 6S/OPEX initiatives + Organize and collect data for process improvement + Ensures that employees are utilizing materials properly and effectively + Effectively communicates information regarding product, quality and safety topics + Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with various departments including, but not limited to; Team Supervisor, peers, Assemblers, Manufacturing Engineers, Engineering and Quality. + Value engineering of new and existing product + Build custom equipment and tooling for production + Provide clear and concise feedback to Engineers both orally and written + Improve design for manufacturability by working closely with Engineers + In-process documentation of prototype assembly steps including pictures and written instructions + Lead root cause analysis events with production + Identify opportunities to reduce lead time through cycle time studies and process improvements + Maintain proficient knowledge of production processes throughout the factory floor + Read and interpret engineering drawings to determine assembly sequence of electromechanical units + Read and interpret Bills of Materials (BOMs) to determine component parts + Read and interpret wiring diagrams to make electrical connections according to specification + Cross training to provide back up in other functional departments of the plant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities + High mechanical aptitude + Demonstrated ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams + Technical writing ability + Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills both verbal and written + Familiar with Microsoft Office, including Power Point and Excel + Proficient product knowledge + Determine the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job + Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences + Proficient in inspecting, testing and adjusting completed units to ensure that units meet specifications, tolerance and Engineering requirements Minimum Qualifications + High School Diploma or equivalent + Associate?s Degree /HNC/HND in a technical background preferred + Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (Lean manufacturing a plus) Working Conditions / Physical Requirements + The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas where, in certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required. + Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. + Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs. occasionally; ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. daily.
