Job Description

An exciting opportunity has become available to join us as a part time Specialty Doctor at Cygnet Hospital Harrow. Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder. In this role you'll be working on Byron Ward which provides an acute in-patient psychiatric service for a wide range of psychological and emotional problems. Set in a calming and therapeutic environment the ward can support up to 20 men and women. The Opportunity As a Specialty Doctor you will work alongside the Consultant Psychiatrist and as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide continuous medical cover to clients on Byron Ward. You will be responsible for * Initial clerking and mental state examinations of newly admitted patients * Assessment, appropriate investigation, diagnosis and initiating treatment plans under Consultant supervision of clients * Maintaining full records of medical and psychiatric assessments and interventions * Prescribing and reviewing medication under the supervision of the relevant Consultant Psychiatrist undertaking clinical audits and maintaining and monitoring standards of care * Maintaining good communication with the multi-disciplinary team and nursing staff, including morning handover meetings each working day. * Participatingin ward rounds and in other multi-disciplinary meetings, including Care Programme Approach Meetings (CPA), Managers Panels andMental Health Review Tribunals * Communicating effectively with mental health and other agencies and professionals as required for client assessment and for co-ordination of discharge plans. * The post holder will participate in the 'duty doctor' on-call rota at the hospital, and will be on-call on a 1:5 rota We are looking for people who have: * Full GMC registration * Experience in Adult Psychiatry is preferred * Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice along with Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity * The ability to interview, assess and treat clients and write clear comprehensive medical notes * Proven record of CPD (Continued Professional Development) * The ability to work with as part of a multi-disciplinary team * Desirable: Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists, Physicians, General Practitioners or equivalent * Desirable: Section 12 * Partake in a on call rota: 1:5 * Must have the ability to work 4 sessions as a minimum (2 days) or 6 sessions (preferable) In return, we will offer you: * Salary: up to 48,000 (Depending on Experience) * The ability to work alongside an onsite Consultant Psychiatrist and multi-disciplinary team * An excellent working environment with an overall good CQC rating * Access to NHS Discount Scheme * Generous annual leave entitlement which increases with length of service * A strong emphasis on continued professional development to include CPD support, PDP programmes and study leave with funding support * Opportunity to undertake further learning and development * Medical indemnity cover * Company paid Life Assurance scheme * Smart Health Toolkit- Providing you with Fitness Programmes, Nutrition consultation and Health checks * Free meals on duty * Contributory pension scheme The opportunity to progress to Consultant level through our CESR programme: * You will be interviewed and a programme will be formulated to assess your educational needs and to help you achieve the competencies necessary to help you progress to Consultant level. * You will get the opportunity to rotate within the wards/services to gain experience across various subspecialties. * You will be assigned an educational supervisor who will review your progress weekly and oversee your educational development. * You will get support with the MRCPsych exams.
