Are you a passionate and accountable scientist energized by the therapeutic opportunities created at the intersect of Functional Genomics and Immuno-oncology? The Immuno-Oncology & Combinations Research Unit (IOC RU) is seeking a seasoned scientific leader with a strong background in cancer immunology/immunotherapy to join our team. As a leader with experience in the application of primary/complex in vitro models to immuno-oncology, you will take on RU leadership of workstreams that aim to apply 'omics approaches to complex systems, with the goal of identifying novel targets and pipeline combination opportunities. This is an exciting leadership role in a dynamic global matrix team environment that will allow the successful candidate to have a critical contribution to our immuno-oncology efforts. Your responsibilities will include: * Coordination with line functions across GSK to develop a cohesive and timebound strategy for application of multi-component ex vivo assay platforms to IOC. * Direct leadership of external collaborations utilizing primary/complex ex vivo systems. * Implementation of a robust, yet dynamic data analysis pipeline that integrates multiple diverse data types. Why You? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: * PhD or equivalent degree in immunology, immuno-oncology or related field with 5+ years post-graduate experience. * Strong scientific background in immunology or immuno-oncology research, with a focus on model development using primary tumor tissues. * Demonstrated track record of scientific leadership, preferably with experience of leading external partnerships and collaborations * Demonstrated ability to interpret transcriptomic, proteomic, and phenotypic data sets. * Strong communication skills and ability to present results in an organized and concise manner. * Comfortable to lead research in a cross-functional and largely virtual team environment. * Ability to prioritize, manage time efficiently, and implement creative solutions to meet program needs. * Commitment to continual improvement by reading and applying the latest scientific literature, methodologies and technologies. * A high level of integrity and desire to develop transformational medicines that bring benefit to patients Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: * 3+ years pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry research experience working in matrixed project teams. * Hands-on experience with genetic perturbation of primary cells. * High-level understanding of standard bioinformatics workflows.
