Your new role Our Engineering team is expanding and currently looking for two Safety and Approvals Engineers to join their team! Working across the full project life cycle, this is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with previous experience of safety and approvals within either rolling stock or infrastructure, to develop their expertise with industry experts and working with cutting edge designs! In this role you will work to support the delivery and approvals of existing and new railway projects in terms of safety and compliance to standards. * Leading and contributing to compliance work, ensuring documentation conforms to standards and that any necessary submissions meet with the statutory and contractual requirements. * Managing submissions in accordance with a specified project programme. * Support the relationship with the appointed approvals bodies, such as the Notified Bodies, with regard to the review and management of submissions. * Assisting in the writing of safety case documentation. * Writing of safety and approvals strategy documents to support bid work for new projects. Qualifications Essential Requirements * Good sound knowledge of Rolling stock from either a test/ safety / design environment. * Been working in a rail environment encompassing Approvals / Safety work associated with new/ modified train introduction with "hands on" experience. * Previous experience in the rail industry (either rolling stock or infrastructure) * Experienced in producing engineering safety case work (or assessment of such work) Engineering safety management experience (Previous Yellow Book / CENELEC type work) * Experience of interfacing with clients, development teams and contractors subcontractors on a technical level, assisting in resolving approvals compliance issues in a pragmatic, logical manner would be desirable. * Good knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft office packages. * Highly motivated and can work with minimum supervision. * Excellent communication skills. * Good self-discipline and organisation/time management. * The ability to work well under pressure is essential. * Strong analytical and problem solving skills. * Highly organised and methodical. * A flexible and learning attitude. * A team player is a must being able to work within a diverse workforce. * Experience of and commitment to the effective implementation of equal opportunities and CSR policies. * An understanding of health and safety requirements of a working environment * Worked within a project team. * Willing and able to travel internationally regularly Qualifications * An Engineering Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline is desirable.
