PHP Developer Leamington Spa Full time, permanent 50,000 - 55,000 per year Who are tes? Tes Global is a global digital education company that has been supporting educators for over 100 years. The services offered through Tes.com play a critical role helping teachers and school leaders deal with the challenges of providing high quality education to millions of children across the globe. Our group comprises of Tes, Tes Institute, Educare, Edukey, EdValand market leading supply teacher services; Vision for Education, Smart Teachers and ABC Teachers. Role Overview Tes builds and operates a number of services which deliver training and continuing professional development for Teachers and the wider school community. The train squad is responsible for all of the systems and development to support training and CPD delivered by Tes. The train squad is part of a wider Tes engineering team which has more than 50 full time software engineers. We are looking for PHP developers to join the team to help shape our systems transition. We are working on an evolutionary strategy to transform some of the largest learning platforms. We need people who can help us to build world leading systems that we need for the future whilst helping to keep the lights on. Knowledge, skills and attributes We are looking for someone with: - At least 3 years commercial PHP development, working on a modern code base, including object orientation. - A solid understanding of working with large scale relational datasets and database management systems - Experience of building and working with REST APIs - A strong team player that likes to learn and to help others learn As a bonus, it would be great if you have experience of any of the following: - Knowledge of the full PHP web stack and exposure to front end development - Use of version control systems (ideally git) - Exposure to Moodle or other LMS platforms - Understanding of working in an environment with Continuous Integration pipelines. - Test Driven Development and test automation. - Work on integration projects or patterns - Experience with node.js - Experience within an agile team - The ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment What do you get in return?
