Overview A career defining opportunity for the position of Chief Technology Officer has arisen at ITN. Reporting to the Chief Financial and Operations Officer, this role will provide the technical leadership and vision for the company to ensure broadcast continuity and guide the development of the organisation's next generation digital media solutions, network infrastructure and workflows. The ideal candidate will have responsibility for technology delivery, innovation, research efforts, workflows and technical resource management and will ensure that these efforts are aligned with business and key client goals. The Chief Technology Officer will be responsible for mapping out the strategic vision with the senior leadership team, instituting innovation and efficiency, building on and protecting the integrity of existing infrastructure and support, and providing a culture for change. This role requires strategic planning, effective resource management coupled with outstanding execution. The successful candidate will lead the Technology management team, bring a strong work ethic, high energy, and a "roll-up-your-sleeves" approach to getting things done. They will also have a successful track record exemplifying consistency in delivering results. The successful candidate will embody the ITN Values - Partnership, Agility, Respect and Trust, and will drive to embed these across the Technology team. The ITN Technology department has a team of more than 100 highly skilled staff ranging from broadcast engineers to software developers. Responsibilities * To develop a strategic technology plan that optimises ITN's technical offering to clients and the company * To spearhead the delivery of existing and new technology solutions according to the technology plan, working with key clients and stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met, being mindful of advancements that are cost effective and technologically attainable within budget limitations * To advise the company on the suitability and maturity of certain technologies and workflows, and guide implementation and adoption of preferred solutions into the business * To ensure the day to day functions of the project management, engineering, technical support, field operations and studio operations teams are delivering excellent service * To build strong relationships with ITN's biggest clients and to maintain the credible and respected position of the ITN technology function with clients * To work with the commercial divisions in developing cost-effective technology solutions to support new business propositions * To present technology solutions in new business pitches for ITN's highest value commercial opportunities * To manage and motivate a team of high calibre developers, project engineers and support technicians to implement new strategic projects and maintain the existing infrastructure. Continue to develop and foster an environment that stimulates innovation * To work with the departmental management team and HR leadership to embed ITN's commitment to diversity and inclusion within the technology department * To be the organisation's technology visionary and principal spokesperson on technology issues. Articulate the organisation's technology vision within the company and position the organisation as a thought leader and innovator to the marketplace * To assess the market landscape (including identification of key competitors and partners), evaluate new technologies to drive strategic technology partnership opportunities (including buy vs. build options), and provide an overview of technology integration and implementation activities * To set and deliver the technology budgets within company and client requirements * To successfully deliver technology projects on time and to budget These are the main requirements of the role and is not an exhaustive list of duties. Qualifications * A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Communications Engineering, Electrical Engineering or relevant technical subject is required. A Masters, PhD, or other advanced degree would be viewed as favourable * A proven track record of success in running and optimising a large and complex technology function, technical roadmap development, and deployment of large scale and high-quality digital infrastructure and content solutions * The ability to explain and 'sell' complex technical ideas to a general business audience such that they understand the cost-benefit of proposed solutions * A deep understanding of and experience in leading talented development and engineering teams * Proven ability functioning at senior/executive management level within a business and technical environment * Experience in guiding a team and company through a technology transformation, where change leadership is needed * A proven track record of building smooth internal relationships and acting as
