Your new role Hitachi Rail limited are currently recruiting for an experienced Electronics Repair Technician to join our team in Doncaster. You will be working as a part of our service and maintenance engineering department, reporting to the Senior Electrical Systems Engineer In this exciting new role, you will be responsible for undertaking fault-finding and repairs of electronic rolling stock equipment, designing and building equipment to support maintenance and fault-diagnosis of electronic rolling stock equipment and assisting with software uploads onto trains, as needed. Specifically, you will be responsible for the following deliverables: * Undertake fault finding of electronic rolling stock equipment, including ETCS and TMS. * Repair electronic rolling stock equipment. * Design and build electronic test rigs to support maintenance and fault-diagnosis of electronic rolling stock equipment. * Write programmes to control micro-processors and micro-controllers on test rigs. * Keep accurate records of all work undertaken, including relevant drawings and details of the work done, hours spent, materials used, etc. * Assist with software uploads onto trains as needed during busy periods. * Assist with the development of the CoE ETCS Test and Diagnosis Facility. * Assist with the installation and development of the TMS Test and Diagnosis Facility. * Assist with the development of procedures and processes at the CoE. * Support relevant hardware and software development. * Develop a strong working relationship with the Electrical System Engineers, supporting their investigative work by developing electronic test rigs as required. * Occasional fault finding and repairs of electrical and mechanical rolling stock equipment, to suit the individual's skill set, and in collaboration with the Electrical and Mechanical System Engineers. About you Essential Requirements * Relevant HNC or equivalent level working * Ability to work with minimal supervision, to clear targets and deliverables, and within a tight project support environment. * Ability to work under own initiative. * Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. * Commitment to working as part of a team. * Commitment to the effective implementation of equal opportunities policies. * Sound understanding of health and safety requirements in a practical working environment. Desirable Requirements * Experience fault finding on analogue and/or digital circuits. * Experience of repairing to electronic equipment. * Experience designing prototype and fault-finding electronics. * Programming skills such as Python, Visual Basic, C , micro-processors & controllers. * Experience in the Railway Industry. * Knowledge of the UK Railway Operations and Engineering Safety Management System. * Good knowledge of signalling systems, both technically and operationally. * Technical knowledge of and maintenance experience with ERTMS/ETCS, including good understanding of ETCS Baseline 3 new specifications and related Subsets. * Good English writing skills. * Yellow Book Course and/or Common Safety Method Course or similar.
