QC Manager

Job Description
How will you make an impact? You will drive customer satisfaction, and enable business growth by offering and maintaining analytical techniques required by the business and through the management of all samples through the QC Laboratory in a timely manner to meet customer requirements. What will you do? * Provide an analytical service to ensure that products released for sale meet the agreed specification * Provide the agreed analytical service to support other site functions * Manage the resources of the analytical department such that it meets the needs of the business. * Provide analytical expertise and data to support the purchasing function to identify new sources. * Recognise the training needs of staff and develop skills through an appropriate training programme. * Seek and implement productivity improvements and cost reductions by application of innovative thinking. * Manage team 1-1 reviews and the PMD process and monitor progress to meet targets. * Develop the team and maintain technical competence. * Be responsible for setting departmental KPI's and adherence to targets * Prepare annual plans for the department to include future instrument requirements, IT hardware and software, efficiencies / process changes * Be accountable for departmental documentation and records through creation to archive * Responsible for meeting departmental AOP in terms of Opex and Capex * A member of the operational leadership team (OLT) * Embrace practical process improvement (PPI) whilst supporting your OLT peers to deliver operational goals. * Management of quality control departmental budget. * Provide input and support as a member of the Operational Leadership Team * To carry out any other duties within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed. * Support activities to ensure data integrity. * Understand and adhere to all necessary site systems of work and procedures and to ensure that all work is conducted in line with Company policy requirements. * Effectively perform your duties whilst acting at all times in accordance with the Dignity at Work Policy, Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and our values of Integrity, Intensity, Innovation and Involvement How will you get here? Preferred Hiring Criteria: Education * Degree qualified - Chemistry subject Experience * 5 year's experience managing a quality control laboratory * Basic QA experience * Operational experience within a chemical manufacturing plant * Financial planning and control experience * Coaching and mentoring a team * Working within an organisational matrix structure * Proficient at identifying and rectifying inefficiencies using root cause analysis tools * Sound judgment and good decision making skills * Excellent Analytical thinking and problem solving skills Knowledge, Skills, Abilities * Demonstrated management ability * Demonstrated documentation writing and management * Knowledge of inorganic chemistry / analytical chemistry Employment Type: Full time
