Job Description

What's involved? Our Focus on Dementia Network brings together groups of people living with dementia to influence Alzheimer's Society's strategy and development, to provide feedback to influence change in other organisations, and to influence local organisations and Dementia-Friendly Communities. Groups usually meet face-to-face once per week, to use their experience of living with dementia to influence projects, discuss topics, test products, visit local venues or advise on campaigns. The sessions will take place on the 3rd or 4th Thursday of the month, 2pm-4pm, in Penylan, Cardiff. There will also be some administrative duties outside of this time. This role will suit you if you... * Are open, friendly and enjoy talking with others. * Are happy taking notes during discussion groups. * Have experience of, or are willing to learn about supporting people with dementia. * Understand the importance of confidentiality and providing a safe space for people to share their experiences & views. * Are willing to meet regularly with your role manager to talk openly about your volunteering experience The impact you'll make... This is a place for people with dementia to have a voice both locally and nationally. You will be a crucial part of making people feel safe to share, as well as supporting each person to ensure they are able to get their point across.
