Technical Services Manager Location: London - Regionally Based Salary 55/60K dependant on experience Purpose of Role: The Technical Service Manager will provide technical and operational building services engineering support to GFSL management and site based operational teams. This is a regional role providing expert advice and guidance on safe operational delivery of building services to HMPPS sites. The role includes acting as the principal point of contact for operational teams in the resolution of technical engineering challenges. Principal Accountabilities * To be responsible for providing technical management information in relation to safe systems of work, compliance, repair and operation of building services engineering systems. * Provide accurate and timely specific technical and management support to GFSL and MoJ project delivery teams ensuring GFSL's business objectives are met. * To comply with all Health and Safety policies, procedures and legislation to ensure statutory and mandatory compliance. * To lead on regular formal auditing and monitoring as well as ad hoc checks of site operations and processes. * To support the development and maintenance of effective technical management systems and procedures, including delivering technical training. * To build and maintain collaborative and professional partnerships with senior colleagues, up to Director level, and key senior decision makers employed by GFSL and HMPPS. * To positively contribute to the building and development of a culture of excellent customer service, establishing and maintaining an excellent working relationship with the client. * To attend and provide technical management support to operational and regional team meetings. Skills and Abilities * HND, NVQ 4 or equivalent, ideally in an engineering discipline. * NEBOSH certificate or equivalent health and safety qualification is desirable. * Formal qualifications and / or accredited training in mechanical building services engineering trade. * Ability to identify and solve complex engineering and operational problems, exploring options including cost, benefit and risk, taking account of the wider context such as diversity and sustainability * Ability to write detailed technical engineering reports including considered and justified recommendations to senior management. * Must be able to provide direction to large operational teams, spread over multiple sites, in relation to technical issues such as the adoption of good practice and technical compliance. * Good IT skills including knowledge of email, spreadsheet and word processing software. * Excellent knowledge of relevant health and safety practices. * Able to work effectively in high pressure and challenging situations, to strict deadlines and important targets relating to critical safety and operational systems. * Ability to work autonomously from day to day with minimal supervision.
