Job Description

Consistent growth and development within our Transportation Division means some exciting opportunities have emerged within our Transport Modelling teams. We are currently working on a range of projects across various sectors with responsibility for delivering modelling work for our private and public sector clients nationally. We can be flexible on the location for this position as we have Transport Planning teams based across our Bristol, Manchester, Cardiff and Camborne offices. Hydrock is an independently owned multidisciplinary consultancy, of circa 500 staff, operating out of 17 offices. The role will include: * Participating in or leading highway modelling projects using VISSIM, LinSig, Junctions 9 (ARCADY/PICADY) and VISWALK * Project and task involvement/management on modelling projects to include survey programmes, model development, calibration, validation, and demand forecasting * Checking outputs for compliance with quality requirements and industry best practice * Organise, train, support and mentor other modelling team members * Liaise with clients and other project stakeholders * Undertake business development activities including proposal writing and client engagement The attributes we expect you to bring to the role and company: * MEng/ BEng in a relevant subject or equivalent qualifications and experience * Committed to providing high quality, affordable and innovative solutions * Experienced in the use of VISSIM, LinSig and Junctions 9 * Survey design, survey management and data analysis, alongside an understanding of variable demand modelling and forecasting are also key skillsets necessary for the role * Excellent people skills and an ability to work independently whilst also guiding others to produce clear, precise and coherent analysis and reports from transport models/transport appraisal techniques * Numerate with excellent data analysis skills, competency in data analysis packages, such as Excel/Access, good technical report writing skills For our more senior modellers , we'd expect experience in managing major modelling projects, the development of robust models to support decision making, as well as project delivery experience including programme, commercial and financial management. An understanding of the wider transport planning/engineering environment is crucial and alongside advising clients within the transportation sector, our seniors will also be expected to be active and experienced in business development activities. Additional experience with other relevant modelling packages such as Paramics, TRANSYT, SATURN, and VISUM would be useful, but is not essential. What you can expect?
