We are the current contract holders of the managed services contracts for the National Assembly for Wales, the Vision, Sound and AV Operation and Maintenance of UK Parliament , the Broadcasting and AV Services for the Greater London Authority and the UK Supreme Court in addition to a number of prestigious corporate bodies and Government Departments. Overview of the role: This is a key technical role in supporting our AV & Broadcast services at contract sites in central London, these include the UK Parliament, UK Supreme Court and the GLA, as well as our other locations as required. Working in a number of small multi skilled teams, the main duties are; first-line maintenance of a range of Broadcast & Audio Visual equipment, operation of technical equipment including vision control, rigging & operating AV systems, video and audio patching in the Central Technical Areas (CTA), web streaming services (encoders switches etc) and identifying issues and establishing workarounds and technical solutions to problems as they arise. Working shifts are normally between 07:00 and 21:00 (early, mid, late etc.) but will be subject to change depending on how the clients business is scheduled. Your days of work will normally be Monday to Friday, but there may be some weekend working. Should you work more than five days in one week then you will receive a day off 'in lieu'. Duties and Responsibilities: * First-line fault finding and repair of a range of Broadcast and AV equipment minimising loss of service * Vision control operations in the control rooms * Set up, operation and first line maintenance of CTA systems - video and audio matrices, video and audio patching, vision switchers, audio mixers, routers and keyers etc * Media Asset Management systems support and operation * Rigging and de-rigging of broadcast and audio-visual equipment - this can involve manual handling of heavy items * Operation of remote controlled broadcast cameras * Dealing with both hardware and software problems in MS Office and Broadcast IT systems * Setting up and operating streaming, encoding and transcoding equipment * Work with 3rd party technologies including CDN, and web based video players * Operating DSLR/audio kit for video recording * Basic editing using FCP, Adobe Premier etc * Interpreting and implementing instructions and requests from clients, producers, directors and other colleagues * Using online ticketing system to raise and track fault resolution * Working with project managers and engineers on small-scale project work, design, build etc * Administration when required - answering emails, answering phone calls, taking messages generating client quotes * Communicating effectively - whether by spoken or written word, telephone or email, good communication skills are vital in this job * Working effectively as part of a small team * Maintaining punctuality and a smart appearance at all times, * Wearing company or client uniforms if required Requirements Skills required: * Ability to work under pressure in a high profile environment * Experience of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and Outlook packages * An interest in news, current affairs and politics - a basic understanding of political issues is highly desirable for this role * Excellent communicator - whether by spoken or written word, telephone or email, good communication skills are vital in this job * Able to work as part of a team, liaising with others and using initiative when working * A desire to learn new systems and commitment to deliver a first class service * A mature and diplomatic approach to our clients Experience required: * Must be able to demonstrate at least two or more years experience working in a broadcast environment where, cameras, audio and associated vision and sound signal distribution equipment were rigged, operated and maintained on daily basis * Experience with streaming, encoding and transcoding practices * Knowledge and experience of IP networks and infrastructure would be advantageous Benefits Salary: Commercial.
