Development Lead

Job Title - Lead Software Engineer Location - Radbroke Hall, Knutsford It's an exciting time at Barclays. Our Contact Centre Transaction Cycle is responsible for providing technical solutions to support the Contact Centre operations globally, so we can provide exceptional service to our customers. As the Lead Software Engineer, you will be helping to deliver quality solutions, providing technical excellence and innovation, technical product ownership and leadership of other developers. What will you be doing? * You will be leading, and accountable for, all system engineering activity for one or more applications/products across the end-to-end software development lifecycle * You will be ensuring the technical integrity and quality of the applications/products is maintained across their lifetime, reviewing and approving proposed technical changes * You will be maintaining and in-depth, end-to-end technical understanding of one or more applications/products, being recognized as the 'go-to' for queries, incidents and problems * You will be leading the people and workload of a global development team to deliver high quality, consistent software, whilst focusing on the wellbeing and development of the team * You will be ensuring alignment to the technology roadmap, DevOps and automation agenda * You will be ensuring the assignment of work is completed to budget, time and quality requirements; promoting the need for documentation of all work in accordance with standards * You will be able to clearly present solutions to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, externally and internally * You will be collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver software on time with quality and consistency, with greater emphasis on automation What we're looking for: * An excellent understanding and experience of Software Engineering, with a good understanding of Agile approaches, and of DevOps tooling and implementation * Proficiency and understanding of software development tools/environment, e.g. Jenkins, Jira and Confluence * Experience developing complex technical solutions across multiple technology stacks, with an expertise in application architecture, software products and services * The ability to manage stakeholders as well as people in your team and their career management Skills that will help you in the role: * Exposure to Service Orientated Architecture design principles, service definition and web services implementation including external exposure of API components * Developing against internal and external cloud platforms and provisioning infrastructure as code * Experience with developing software for Contact Centre capabilities Where will you be working?
