Job Description

We are looking for an enthusiastic PHP Developer to join Dept in our Manchester office to help us produce industry leading solutions. You'll be working collaboratively as part of a close knit, fully integrated team to build and maintain world-class websites. The role will give you fantastic exposure to a number of different areas - this could be the building of a new customer website from scratch, developing cutting edge integrations or refactoring legacy code into something better. The work is varied and very fast paced and as an integrated agency there will always be someone available to offer support, bounce ideas off or collaborate with. Our current client portfolio boasts a variety of different technologies, there's always something new. We like to use the latest tools to support development, primarily in Laravel powered by PHP 7. Our technology stack also includes the Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana stack. We use services like Redis for caching and are moving towards Swagger for our API documentation. You'll be part of a team that builds the brains of the platform writing a REST API with tests. Using the documentation you've provided the JavaScript team will plug in your APIs. YOU: * Have experience in PHP development with an MVC PHP framework such as Laravel, Symfony, Zend, etc.; * Have written API documentation or used tools such as Postman and Paw to capture how APIs should be used; * Have experience using version control software such as Git, Mercurial, Bitbucket and SVN; * Demonstrate an ability to estimate accurately and give a detailed breakdown on how you'll solve an issue; * Knowledge of object oriented PHP programming; * Understanding of MVC design patterns; * Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages; * Are familiar with common development methodologies such as Waterfall or Agile.
