Job Description

Hours of work: We have two shift patterns available- Nightshift (10pm-6am) and Alternating Shift (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm) We are recruiting for a number of machine technicians for our bakery based in Edinburgh. You will be a machine operator with additional duties. You will be assigned to one plant and will take ownership of this. You will be responsible for the operation of the equipment and you will carry out basic asset care/maintenance with the ability to problem solve and rectify minor/common faults. On top of normal machine operator duties, key responsibilities are: * Ensure that the required quality and food safety standards are maintained and adhered to * Drive machine performance using Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to understand and act on equipment source of loss * Liaise upstream and downstream with peers and understand the end to end process * Capture/handover equipment issues * Complete/develop all AM (Autonomous Maintenance/reliability maintenance) tasks for your assigned equipment. Clean, return to standard (Centre line), inspect and lubricate * Identify/root cause machine faults and carry out basic engineering fixes or escalate * Be involved in CI/lean activities to identify root cause and drive improvements in the area/equipment (5S, Kaizen, Centrelines etc.) * Carry out the machine changeover * Support Engineers/Electricians in fault identification and repair * Demonstrate and drive Burton's Cultural values and Manufacturing Excellence principle Who are we looking for? * Machine Operator experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred * Mechanical background/ knowledge * Ability to work as part of a team * Appetite to learn with a positive can-do attitude * Analytical/ problem solving skills * Good communication skills * Creative thinker, flexible and quick adapter to change Development Opportunities- There are many opportunities within Burton's to progress your career. In this role, there is potential for formal qualifications such as SVQ Level 3 Engineering Maintenance however this is still to be confirmed.
