Infrastructure Engineer

Job Title - Infrastructure Engineer Location - Knutsford, Cheshire An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Infrastructure engineer to join the Barclays Global Tech Infrastructure and Security family. You will be responsible for delivering efficient access to IT services to support the realization of the business strategy by providing a technological competitive advantage with which to best serve the customer. This is a software development role in an infrastructure organisation so candidate will be expected to know about infrastructure and act as a senior developer in otherwise infrastructure engineering team. This will require mentoring junior colleagues and will provide high degree of autonomy. Ideal candidate would be capable developer across the entire stack of technologies (Full stack). What will you be doing? Primary responsibility will be to maintain and further develop number scripts / portals / code snippets used to manage infrastructure You will be managing your own CI/CD pipeline and responsible for end to end result. Therefore, knowledge of CI/CD and ability to build new Jenkins pipelines is a must A high level of experience and technical leadership when engaging with key stakeholders such as business aligned technology teams Drive best practices, mentoring junior colleagues, reviewing code and contributing in software development skillset increase in the team Process optimization and establishment of best practices What we're looking for: Expert level knowledge in Python Ability to code (Ruby/ Python/Perl) is a must Deep understanding of server infrastructure (Windows or UNIX) and facilitating technologies Knowledge of and deep understanding of Infrastructure as a Code concepts and tools (Chef, git, Jenkins, Terraform) Skills that will help you in the role: Awareness of virtualization, cloud and containerization technologies (OpenStack, OpenShift, Docker, AWS) Middleware product (Jboss, Tomcat, Apache, WAS, MQ) knowledge would be an advantage Golang knowledge would be an advantage Knowledge of Django Where will you be working?
