Job Description

We are seeking a band 7 Genetic Counsellor/ Trainee Genetic Counsellor to join the Genetic Counsellors and nursing team in the West of Scotland Clinical Genetic Service. The service serves a population of around 2.6 million covering Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Forth Valley, Lanarkshire, Dumfries & Galloway and Ayrshire and Arran. It comprises a team of Genetic counsellors, clinic & research nurses, Clinical Geneticists, medical trainees, speciality doctors and admin staff. The service has strong established links with a variety of health services for children and adults. There is close collaboration with the University of Glasgow where the department delivers the MSc in Genetic & Genomic Counselling. It is essential you have Entry level Pre registration GCRB Set A, B or C qualifications Or GCRB Registered Genetic Counsellor and are able to demonstrate a working knowledge of human genetics and its psychosocial & ethical impact gained significant experience within clinical genetics or a closely related field.
