ERTMC Technician

Job Description
" Role Profile: Required to work as a key member of the Regional Technology (RTMC) Maintenance Team. Will gain an understanding of the technology equipment in the RTMC area including AMIs, Message Signs, CCTV, MIDAS, ERTs, Cabinets, Traffic Signals, Weather stations, traffic counting technologies, Ramp Metering and Regional Control Centre systems including HATMS, COBS and its subsystems, display equipment, CCTV, digital storage devices. The RTMC Technician will work proactively with the Lead Engineer and Service Delivery Manager to improve all Technology Performance across the RTMC Contract that enables activity and quality indicators to be monitored accurately. Gain knowledge and application of current technologies, standards, specifications, standards and best practice relating to Highways England`s Motorway and trunk road communications systems. Responsible for completing all technology maintenance tasks as determined by Service Delivery Manager. Will attend tool box talks, team briefs and raise any EH&S concerns through the appropriate channels. Undertake reactive and planned maintenance on RTMC Technology. Liaise daily with the Lead Engineer who will allocate faults, inspections and maintenance schedules. Escalate issues to the Lead Engineer/Service Delivery Manager or nominated deputy as required appraising of progress and fault status. Adjust work in response to emergency incidents, to ensure both emergency response times and service level agreements are met. Must be prepared to sign up to out of hour's callout and to work nights as required by the contract. May be required to liaise with client and other stakeholders i.e. NRTS and will demonstrate a positive attitude at all times. Typical Deliverables: Close down faults through Fault Management System or the Fault Administrator in a timely manner. Complete timesheets on a weekly basis. Report site issues through the watchman process. Report accidents and near misses through the telsafe process. Ensure familiarisation of the RTMC area and responsibilities. Comply with telent and client QEH&S and security policies. Understand and comply with telent's policies including use of vehicle, laptop and mobile phone. Will ensure that all work undertaken is done in accordance with telent's Health & Safety / environmental processes and Contract EH&S documentation Will comply with National Highways Sector Scheme 8 and hold valid ECS Card Will undertake high speed traffic training and comply with Chapter 8 requirements whilst working on the network. Will report any Health & Safety issues to the Service Delivery Manager and through the telsafe process Will attend all EH&S training inductions, drug and alcohol testing as required by telent, Highways England and Scheme Contractors Will complete CBQ/NVQ in line with NHSS8 requirements Will display/demonstrate positive behaviours to develop and promote a strong safety culture Responsible for advising Line Manager of anything that could affect safety at work (i.e. stress, medication -prescription or non-prescription, personal issues) Challenge unsafe behaviours of others and reporting to Line Manager Provide support as required on the review of safe systems of work Complete dynamic risk assessments for work activities and be proactive in managing safety at all times Comply with all management instructions relating to safety and raising any concerns Business Operations Skills - Experience: Good written and verbal communication skills Must hold full driving licence Organisational skills and a systematic approach to work with care taken over detail and due regard to confidentiality Able to work independently and act on own initiative Committed to achieving results and ability to work under pressure Demonstrate a highly professional manner when dealing with clients and other stakeholders Good communication skills with experience of developing positive working relationships at all levels Ability to work as a team player demonstrating flexibility and understanding of client requirements Business Operations Skills - Qualifications: Technical qualifications or background. Experience of working in electronics/communications industry.
