Job Description
Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust was formed on 1st October 2013, following the merger of Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust and Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich. The Trust is seeking to appoint Consultants in Emergency Medicine based at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL) site. These appointments are substantive and represents an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic ED team within a new organisation and as such be involved in the development of this vibrant emergency department and innovative Trust. At Lewisham Hospital we see around 120,000 emergency patients a year with a diverse range of pathology and trauma. As a Trust we are a committed, multi-professional team who provide much-valued hospital and community services as one organisation. We offer medical, surgical and emergency services to local residents, and also provide a range of specialist services for South East London and beyond. Our community health professionals work closely with the hospital and GPs to provide support to adults and children in their own homes and across a range of health centres and clinics. The Emergency Department has considerable educational expertise with instructors in ALS, ATLS and APLS courses, echocardiography and ultrasound, as well as examiners in FRCEM. The successful candidates would be encouraged to develop an area of expertise or sub-specialisation within Emergency Medicine.
