Our scientific apprenticeship programme provides a unique opportunity for our apprentices to learn and develop allowing them to fulfil their potential within a structured educational and work-based training environment. In addition to gaining valuable work experience you will have the opportunity to study towards a Biological or Chemical Sciences degree at Kent University whilst earning a competitive salary. Our Scientific Apprenticeship Program commences annually in September at our Cambridge research site. We are offering apprenticeships within several of our oncology research teams. Each of these positions provides the opportunity to gain a unique insight into AstraZeneca's world-leading scientific research, enabling the discovery of a new generation of cancer treatments. Training and Development Our apprentices receive an Apprenticeship Training Plan that describes the training they will need. It will include a mixture of external and internal training that will ensure that each apprentice is fully competent by the end of their program. Each apprentice will gain transferable core skills and knowledge. In addition, they will gain specific skills tailored to the individual requirements of their roles. Our apprentices initially work towards a Level 5 qualification with one day per week set aside for study. Typically, this will be a Foundation Degree in Applied Bioscience Technology or Applied Chemical Technology. There is also a future option to extend your apprenticeship within AstraZeneca to study for a further 2 years and gain a Level 6 BSc (honours) degree qualification. Additionally, the apprenticeship is recognised by the relevant professional bodies at Registered Scientist (RSci) level. Essential skills/capabilities required: + Good communication skills + Good team working skills + High organisation skills and confidence to work independently + Logical thinking to be able to apply processes + The ability to apply a rational approach to problem solving; making judgments based on sound reasoning, approaching problems in a logical manner + Concerns for standards + High numeracy and literacy skills + Computer literacy + The ability to learn + Self-motivation + Initiative + Five GCSEs (or equivalent) grades or 9-4 including Maths, English and Science. + 2 A Levels (or equivalent) including grade B or above in Biology or grade B or above Chemistry (96 UCAS points on the 2019 tariff) depending on the role AstraZeneca embraces diversity and equality of opportunity.
