Underwriting Assistant - FTC

The Position Underwriting Assistant required to handle SME Commercial lines renewals and new business on Commercial Combined, Property Owners and Motor Fleet products from our Glasgow office. Looking for an experienced underwriter or someone with an insurance broking background for a 12 month fixed term contract from July to cover maternity leave Job Responsibilities Review and provide terms in response to existing renewal policies and/or new business presentations received from a panel of regional brokers Work closely with colleagues in the office to support the growth of the portfolio and increase technical underwriting knowledge Adhere to underwriting standards, authority and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiency whilst ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines Process business within agreed authority levels and ensure all risk information is entered on systems in an accurate and timely manner Enhance Arch's standing and presence locally by establishing and maintaining strong personal relationships with key staff within our partner brokers Required Skills/Experience Good technical and practical experience of commercial lines insurance from either an insurer or broking background Accuracy and attention to detail Good organisational skills with ability to work to deadlines Ability to work as part of a team Desired Skills/Experience Good literacy and numeracy skills (Scottish Higher level qualifications in English and Mathematics desirable) The Company Arch Insurance is a global insurer offering our clients superior coverage and service.
