Job Description
Role Summary: The role of Mechatronics engineer exists to ensure that the electro/mechanical systems employed by PM contribute to the business functioning as productively as possible. Pipeline & Maintenance (PM) Operations routinely use electro mechanical systems developed by the PM technology group as well as from 3rd parties to perform their day to day PM activities. The Mechatronics engineer working as part of a team will ensure that these systems continue to meet the business needs of PM by contributing to the design, build & test of new systems as well performing maintenance, troubleshooting and fault finding on existing systems. Essential Responsibilities: + Mechatronics engineering design + Build & test of electro mechanical systems + Maintenance, troubleshooting & fault finding of electro mechanical systems + Specification and validation of in-house and 3 rd party designed products + Logic control programming for PLCs + Specification, selection and procurement of parts + Preparation of test specifications and support of test activities + Preparation and support of manufacturing, operating and maintenance documents + Preparation of technical reports + Conducting research and preparation of engineering design concepts with supporting analyses for potential new products. + Contribute to research, development and engineering (new technology) planning process, including estimation of costs and timescales. + Contribute to review of own or other designs + Support to commercialisation of new products or services including field trial support (onshore & offshore) and operations staff training + Support to Operations in the system level design of data acquisition and control systems for complete equipment spreads by specifying all components, instruments and looking at feedback and control loops + Reporting of status to management + Client contact in relation to technology activities is likely from time to time Qualifications/Requirements: + Degree in Mechatronics Engineering, preferably with honours + Proven knowledge in the CE marking requirements of equipment, specifically for equipment working in an explosive atmosphere (ATEX) + Proven knowledge of the range of Oil & Gas industry based instrumentation, selection and their use + Competence in the use of 3D CAD modelling design software, preferably Pro-Engineer/Creo + Competence in the use of engineering analysis design software, preferably Mathcad + Competence in the use of test equipment (logic analysers, oscilloscopes, signal generators etc) + Hand working skills - mechanical and electronic assembly including soldering and wiring + Good written and verbal communication in English, including report writing Desired Characteristics: + Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a design and service support environment, preferably in Oil & Gas + Attention to detail and ability to work in a methodical manner + Enthusiastic & self-motivated, team player Locations: Aberdeen, UK This is your opportunity to learn more, do more, live the career you have imagined and be part of a truly diverse organization Baker Hughes is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
