**Description** We have a specific opportunity for an experienced electrical engineering technician to support the work of our electrical engineering team, completing their own designs and developing our drawing and technical standards\. We are addressing projects across the energy spectrum, encompassing substations, overhead and underground systems and smart networks as the UK expands investment and technology to support distributed energy and a shift to electric vehicles\. This role will be a key part of our electrical engineering team, bringing experience in developing designs and preparing design packages for DNO's, Developers, significant technical projects and on smart system projects\. The key tasks and responsibilities are as follows: Technical Responsibilities + Working for the Engineering Manager, completing your own electrical designs and supporting other engineers in larger packages of work + Producing secondary substation designs compliant to DNO technical standards + Network planning up to 11kV for new electric utility connections + Preparation of drawing packages + Preparation of technical specification documentation + Producing cost estimates + CDM compliance and preparation of H&S plans and files + Produce detailed electricity substation design packages, compliant to required client technical standards \(ENA/BS/IEEE standards and/or TNO/DNO/IDNO specific standards\), including: + Bill of materials + Compound layouts \(plans and elevation drawings\) + Control building arrangements + Interior and exterior raceways/containment + Auxiliary AC and DC power systems + Cable schedules Functional Responsibilities + Interact in a professional manner with clients and colleagues to achieve project objectives + Able to manage multiple projects and conflicting deadlines + Able to work autonomously and as part of a project team + Personal professional development and partaking in professional bodies and industry groups + Other duties as assigned **Qualifications** Minimum Qualifications & Experience + BEng in Electrical or Power System Engineering \(equivalent qualifications in a similar field may also be considered\) + A minimum of one year of experience working within an engineering design environment + Proficient in low voltage and 11kV network design\. 33kV network design experience would also be beneficial + Knowledge of DNO technical standard for electricity network design and operation + Up\-to\-date knowledge of BS7671 \(wiring regulations\) + IT literate, with good knowledge of using Microsoft Office applications + AutoCAD proficiency + Experience in delivery of electric utility connection projects preferable + Experience of CDM \(2015\) regulations and responsibilities + Experience of Streetworks legislation, including of HAUC, would be advantageous + Membership of relevant industry body, e\.g\.
