Pharmaceutical Technology and Development (PT&D) utilises great science delivered by phenomenal people to develop medicines that help millions of patients worldwide. We're now looking to recruit a motivated Chemical/process engineering graduate on a permanent basis into our Chemical Development team. Together, we design and deliver the manufacturing processes to produce the active ingredients required to support new medicines - from supplies for use in clinical trials to developing the technology to ensure drugs are successfully scaled up for commercial manufacture. Based in Macclesfield, Cheshire, with easy access to Manchester and the Peak District and fast trains to London and Birmingham, this is a location with something for everybody. We're looking for an engineer who is hardworking, motivated and willing to learn, to join our team of 15 process engineers within Chemical Development. You can expect to deliver laboratory and pilot scale experimentation, theoretical study and model development, pilot plant support, technology development and technical knowledge transfer to commercial manufacture. You will work collaboratively with chemists, analysts, a variety of scientific specialists and project managers to achieve an effective delivery. Typical responsibilities may include: + You will be applying your understanding of chemical engineering principles to resolve complex problems. + We would like you to Support scientists from a range of backgrounds in the development of active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing processes. + You will be developing and executing appropriate modelling and experimental plans to improve robustness of processes. + Using your technical knowledge to contribute to improvement projects and the evaluation of state of the art technologies. + Delivering a varied portfolio of work to agreed timelines. + Crafting chemical processes through theoretical study and laboratory investigations. + Collaborating with multi-functional teams, representing your own department and area of expertise. + Developing the overall scientific capability of the department. + Ensuring that work is in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) guidelines, quality and compliance standards, e.g. Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). Required Skills and Experience: + A PhD, or 2:1 degree minimum in Chemical Engineering. + An understanding of theoretical and experimental approaches based on physicochemical engineering. + A broad knowledge of process equipment and technology. + A rational approach to problem solving, and an ability to make judgements based on sound reasoning. + Strong collaborative and communication skills.
