Job Description The Principal Cloud Lead will act as the subject matter expert for Cloud services and as a mentor for the service line team members. You will also contribute to the planning, designing, governance and optimisation for all foundational aspects of the cloud environment. The role also performs product evaluation and testing, research into emerging technologies, and provides troubleshooting assistance as top tier support for the Server Operations team. This will be a broad and challenging role; as we continue our journey into the public cloud there will be challenges of scale, security, availability and performance for you to help solve. As the Principle Cloud Lead you will be a key player in the development and maintenance of our global cloud infrastructure and use your troubleshooting experience to solve problems as they arise. Additionally, you will be able to use your skills to assist the team in the design, optimization, monitoring and 3rd line support of all aspects of the cloud infrastructure and you will evaluate and recommend emerging technologies / techniques that will support business needs. Requirements: * Previous experience as a Windows system administrator building & supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems (or equivalent) * Solid understanding of Cloud Compute platforms, including machine image creation and management * Microsoft Certified Expert level in relevant Azure technologies * In-depth understanding of Cloud based architectures with a proven background * Solid understanding of High Availability strategies, preferably with Cloud in mind * Familiarity with the concept of 'infrastructure as code' * Excellent troubleshooting skills, able to drive out root cause of complex technical problems. * Strong scripting and automation skills in various languages (such as Powershell, JSON etc.) * In depth understand of orchestration and automation platforms within the Cloud space (Azure, AWS or GCP) * In-depth understanding of networking security concepts, such as IP subnets, NACLs, routing, firewalls. Desirable Skills: * Working knowledge of API Gateways & Middleware Technologies * Experience of test-driven development of infrastructure solutions *
