In Gloucester, you'll support people with learning disabilities and autism at home and in the community to live life more freely. You don't necessarily need experience as we provide full training. On a waking-nights contract you'll have a guaranteed number of hours each week; generally, 9.00pm to 7.30am. Weekend contracts working patterns are generally Friday night shifts, and Saturday and Sunday early, late or night shifts. There will be occasional daytime working, for example for training or to attend meetings, all with advance notice. You'll enable people with learning disabilities to increase their independence; there's lots of variety. You'll support individuals in all aspects of daily living; from cooking to managing finances. Supporting people with their personal care and medication needs is also key. As a support worker you'll also support people to do things in their community. If you're new to social care, we'll support you gain the nationally recognised Care Certificate. If you have experience as a care assistant or care worker in a care home, you'll discover we provide plenty of on-going training, support to achieve relevant qualifications and career progression. You'll need good communication skills and a positive, patient approach. Respectful of people's differences, you can build professional relationships and have a flexible approach.
