The Opportunity: We are currently recruiting for an experience, talented and ambitious pension Actuarial Analyst who is keen to develop their career with a client consulting focus. This is your chance to join a great multi-disciplined team providing clients with leading edge advice across funding, investment, risk transfer and covenant. We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills, business acumen and a client focus, alongside the core technical skills. You will work on a wide range of clients, working directly with Scheme Actuaries, or part of larger teams on complex client accounts; we tailor the client mix to support and develop an individual's skills now and into the future. This role would be suitable for someone who already has experience working with trustees and corporate clinets on a DB pensions within an actuarial consultancy role and making good progress through the actuarial exams; all the way up to those nearly qualified. Buck provides full-study support for students undertaking the actuarial exams. Some key responsibilities: + Act as an actuarial and consulting assistant for a portfolio of clients; + Handling the preparation of valuations and cost estimates; + Assisting consultants on the preparation and delivery of both day to day, and strategic advice; + Undertaking and supervising accounting disclosures (FRS17, IAS19 and USGAAP); + Coordinating data collection including editing and testing data received from clients; + Participating in Buck internal projects, handling special projects or assignments as needed; + Assisting scheme consultants with the consultancy aspects of pension schemes; + Carrying out non-standard scheme benefit calculations and involvement in wider actuarial work (i.e. assumptions advice, funding advice, actuarial factor reviews, funding updates, accounting); + Building up consulting knowledge on actuarial and non-actuarial aspects of pension plans; + Reporting any suspected breaches to management/compliance department upon discovery; + Supporting senior colleagues in research, analysis and general preparation of materials for new business opportunities. What we look for (skills & experience): + Good numerical/mathematics-based degree; + Ideally 3 to 4 plus years in Actuarial / Retirement Consulting; + Good progress through the actuarial exams, generally to have completed CT exams and CA1; + Strong analytical, numerical and critical thinking skills, including a good understanding of actuarial approaches for pensions; + Ability to build relationships with colleagues and clients; + Strong all-round communication skills; + Able to prioritise, organise and carry out tasks within deadlines.
