Onboard Application Engineer for our location in Plymouth , UK Purpose of the role The main purpose of this role is to integrate the Onboard Automatic Train Protection System (ATP) into a specific vehicle. Since this is an integration of a safety critical system, a great portion of your work will be electrical design, creating schematics, write installation/de-installations manuals, analysing and documenting requirements. Requirements: Development and integration of electrical systems throughout the entire development lifecycle. Produce electrical schematics, drawings and defining the bill of materials. Produce documents needed for the creation of safety cases and release info about the onboard system integration. Field surveys and data management including vehicle investigations. Produce the deviation reports based on deviations from the Technical Specification. Interfacing with different stakeholders, both internal and external. Participate in bid estimation work for new potential contracts Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience. Relevant previous experience in system design, interpreting requirements and writing documentation. Experience using one or several schematic drawing programs. Experience of ERTMS or other safety-critical systems is highly valued. Knowledge of job-specific tools (Synergy, Doors, others may apply) is an advantage. Flexibility and ability to adapt to a dynamic business environment. Willing to travel (nationally and international).
