Job Description

Principal Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist in Feeding and Eating Disorders We wish to recruit a permanent, part-time Principal Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist for the Feeding and Eating Disorders Team (FEDS) in Psychological and Mental Health Services at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, London. The integrated FEDS team provides highly specialist assessments, second opinions and treatment for children presenting with a range of disorders including ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder), early onset and atypical anorexia nervosa, rumination disorder, and feeding / eating difficulties associated with medical conditions and trauma. The post holder's role will include the initial assessment of families referred to the service, care co-ordination and case consultation with the MDT. Clinical interventions are provided to outpatients at individual, family and group level. There will be opportunities for parent / child interventions with early feeding disorders. There will also be opportunities for service development. In addition, there are occasional opportunities to provide clinical interventions for young people with eating disorders on our inpatient team, the Mildred Creak Unit, as the unit works closely with the FEDS team if an inpatient care pathway is indicated. There will also be opportunities to contribute to teams in the wider hospital. This can include consultations and facilitating work discussion groups, as well as contributing to clinical assessments and parent interventions. The post-holder will support the leadership structure within the team through support with clinical risk management, audit, service evaluation and research being central to this. This post offers a wonderful opportunity to help shape the future multidisciplinary treatment structure, approach and ethos in the team. Case consultation and support to other team members will be an essential role for the post holder. Experience of parent/infant interaction will also be an advantage, as many families present with young children. The team has a strong multi-disciplinary ethos which enables people to grow and develop skills in a supportive environment. Supervision will be provided by the head of child and adolescent psychotherapy. Working days must include a Wednesday.
