Whittington Health Trust are Looking for enthusiastic, motivated and committed individuals to join our friendly team within the Emergency Department as the post of Specialty Doctor. This post offers the opportunity to work on a registrar rota alongside Emergency Medicine trainees. The post will offer a wide range of experience in all aspects of both Adult and Paediatric Emergency Medicine and would be suitable for those planning a career in Emergency Medicine. It may also suit those who have followed an unconventional career path with a variety of previous experience in acute specialties who wish to consolidate and develop their clinical and leadership skills. You will work on an ad hoc shift basis with other registrars e.g. Specialty Trainees (ST4 and above) or Specialty Doctors, such that cover is provided in the Emergency Department 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whittington Health has a thriving and innovative Emergency Department with a focus on clinical excellence. Demand for our service is steadily growing and we now see nearly 100,000 new attendances per year. You will assess patients and initiate treatment working with a multidisciplinary team and will assist the consultants in the supervision of the more junior doctors and in the safe and effective running of the Emergency Department. As an Integrated Care Organisation, Whittington Health is commissioned to provide acute and community services to meet the needs of our diverse population. The Emergency Department has a co-located Urgent Care Centre, and a Clinical Decision Unit with well-established pathways and a multidisciplinary team. There is a dedicated Children's Emergency Department. Successful applicants will be provided with a named Educational Supervisor and will be supported to develop skills relevant to work in the Emergency Department and given help and advice to work towards personal career aims. The Emergency Department provides a weekly teaching programme with protected teaching time and appropriate study leave will be granted. The Whittington is one of three main home campuses of UCL Medical School and there are active undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes running in the Emergency Department.
