Job Description

Band 7/8a preceptorship posts (Permanent). An exciting opportunity for two qualified Clinical Psychologists to apply for two new band 7/8a preceptorship posts within adult mental health community . The successful applicants will work into our new Step Forward service which will provide a stepped model of Psychological care. Psychosocial approaches will be central to the delivery of care in our new service. Our service is intended to serve those who might previously have 'fallen through the gap' between primary and secondary mental health services, with our intention being to reduce the possibility of longer term deterioration in people's metal health by offering more timely earlier interventions. The service additionally offers advice and support to our primary care and Integrated Care Team (ICT) partners in case management, as well as helping to improve transition management and planning. The service has a range of practitioners and disciplines to perform its core functions, comprising Clinical Psychologists, Psychological Practitioners and Assistant Psychologists. The successful applicants would be supported and offered training to develop therapy skills . Over the last few years preceptors have had attended full CFT , ACT, EMDR and MBT/DBT training . Posts are suitable for newly qualified and current Band 7/8as clinicians; relevant training, support and experience will be provided to ensure successful applicants are eligible for preceptorship to an 8a clinical psychology post after 2 years of direct clinical experience. The successful candidate will provide psychological assessment, therapy and interventions to clients and carers aged 18 to 65 with a range of difficulties in community settings. Over the last 5 years Merseycare Psychology department has tripled in size and is now an integral part of MDT team . Central to Mersey Care strategy is to train and enhance the psychological skills and approaches throughout its workforce. You will be supporting this agenda either through supervision , Reflective Practice within MDT and the wider service. Should you wish you can provide teaching and supervision of students on our PG cert in Applied Psychological skills for Nurses and AHPs. As you progress post 8a , should you wish , we will develop your leadership management and bid writing skills . Post 8a there will be opportunities for funded further training eg . CAT or systemic therapy training, Leadership and management training .
