DT TECHNICIAN Responsible to: Curriculum Leader This is an opportunity for someone with workshop experience to move into an education environment as a DT Technician. Once in post you will be responsible to the Curriculum Leader and assist in the maintenance of the curriculum areas, workshops and the provision of materials in all areas. The successful applicant will cover both DT and Food Technology areas. Responsibilities and Tasks. 1. Key Tasks: * To operate within the national, school and curriculum area policies and procedures under * the guidance of the Curriculum Leader. * To follow the departmental maintenance schedule of tools and machines as directed. To * carry out repairs where possible. * To assist in the maintenance of the curriculum area rooms including collecting equipment * once it has been used and tidying it away. * To carry out tasks independently eg preparing materials, checking invoices as directed by * the Curriculum Leader. * To support the curriculum area in the maintenance and organisation of stock rooms. * To maintain equipment and areas in line with statutory or school Health and Safety * standards. * To offer assistance in line with experience where required with students' projects. * To assist teachers as appropriate with the delivery of the subject. * To liaise with the Curriculum Leader as line manager. 2. Other: * To follow all health and safety regulations. To work at all times in a safe and appropriate * manner and to report all concerns to the Curriculum Leader. * In addition the role includes adherence to all safeguarding and other policies and procedures in place at the school. * You will work under the reasonable direction of the Curriculum Leader and be prepared to carry out any other duties commensurate with the general level of this appointment. PERSON SPECIFICATION: DT TECHNICIAN Qualifications / Education / Training * No specific qualifications are required. * Health and safety certificates / relevant City and Guilds / GNVQ qualifications or similar are desirable.* Experience * Experience in a workshop or similar environment. * Experience of working in an educational setting.* Skills, Knowledge and Abilities * All round manufacturing skills. * Ability to organise effectively, work alone at times to ensure equipment ready and working for lessons. * ICT skills. * Preferred knowledge of one or more of the following: lathes, mills, band saws, circular saws, PCB construction, CNC mills, arc welding, sewing machines, cookers, other machines/tools*. * An understanding of Health and Safety regulations and requirements.
