Job Description

* Are you a qualified Vocational Instructor with a background in construction or woodwork ? * Alternatively, do you possess relevant construction qualifications and are interested in becoming an Instructor ? * Do you have patience and the empathic skills to work with pupils requiring relevant support and guidance? * Can you commit to 2 days a week around your existing work or study commitments? At the Educate Group, we transform the experiences, expectations, and outcomes for young people who regularly struggle to access mainstream education. We provide a range of BTEC, ASDAN and VTCT Level 2 vocational courses within Hospitality and Catering, Hair and Beauty, Sport, Animal Care and Construction. Our dedicated team of Teachers, Tutors and Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) ensure all our students are supported to overcome their barriers to learning in a caring and nurturing environment. We would like to hear from an experienced Construction/Woodwork Tutor or qualified tradesman interested in working as an Instructor on a part-time basis. You must have a passion for helping young people achieve their full potential and provide them with a platform to excel in life beyond education. Who are the Educate Group? The Educate Group is 'Run by Teachers for Teachers' and are a 'Preferred Supplier' on the new National Procurement Service (NPS) Framework for Wales. We use our combined 50 years actual teaching, youth and Senior Leadership experience to help guide, inspire and nurture the established and next generation of specialist Teachers and School Support Staff. What will I be expected to do? Your role will be to enthuse, instruct and supervise pupils in the area of construction and ensure they are engaged in meaningful practical activities. You will be expected to manage classroom behaviour, deliver practical sessions and ensure pupils are provided with the opportunities to learn and express themselves. Depending on the length of role, you may be asked to plan, prepare, deliver and assess pupils work. What qualifications do I need? * Relevant construction trade qualification (mandatory) * Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) (desirable) You will also require GCSE passes in Maths and English. What skills or qualities do I need? You will need strong behaviour management skills and a presence in the classroom is vital. A sense of humour and an abundance of patience is also required, as is the need to be punctual. What experience do I need? You will have relevant construction experience and/or teaching experience (we welcome interest from Newly Qualified Teachers). What registrations do I need to hold? A clear and Enhanced DBS on the Update Service and registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council). A new DBS can be processed through Educate.
