Job Description
Team Leader Mechanical Clevedon, Somerset £40000 - £45000 Leading supplier of high specification manufacturing equipment are seeking an experienced Mechanical Team Leader to: * Deliver on time to target (Cost, Time and Quality) Engineering solutions that meet or exceed the customer's requirements. * Lead and develop a high performing multi-skilled team in order to achieve individual, departmental and organisational objectives. Duties * Support the team, setting clear and SMART objectives in line with the businesses OSGM, tracking the progress of objectives and conducting monthly 1:1's with team members as well as holding monthly team meetings and providing day to day support for the team as required. * Ensure all individual training and development requirements are identified and a training programme is maintained ensuring there are no skills gaps within the team. * Ensure the correct training is in place to improve the knowledge base and enable a highly capable multi-skilled team. * Provide direction and support to all team members, managing and facilitating their performance and tackling first hand, any performance issues that become apparent. * Oversee the team's workload / activities, ensuring correct prioritisation in a fast paced and complex environment. * Ensure all interdepartmental communications are clear and concise. * Drive root cause analysis, striving to prevent re-occurrence with counter measures. * Allocate the work and track resource utilisation levels across the team. * Maintain correct resource levels and when necessary use recruiting, selecting, on-boarding and training to bring in new starters. * Define, update, track and report on metrics for team performance. * Ensure the tools and processes used by the team are up to date, efficient and fit for purpose. * Ensure the team follow health and safety rules and regulations including the safe use of PPE. * Provides personal growth opportunities and is responsible for identifying high performing talent whilst ensuring an effective succession plan is in place for the team. * Ensure that all commitments are addressed in a timely manner and are planned and actioned in accordance with the priority sequence determined by the monthly governance meetings or Engineering Manager. * Ensure all Projects follow and are documented via the businesses gated process. * Manage through leading the team's activities through a centrally visibly plan, dealing with exceptions and escalating as appropriate. * Assure monthly status reporting to management through governance meetings and standardised reporting. * Ensure deliverance of strategy cascaded from Management. * The role requires close interaction with the operational and customer support departments as well within the PC as inter company (other Product companies and Customer Centres). * Direct reports typical 2-8 Skills and Experience: * A good engineering degree or equivalent * Strong people skills and experience of line managing a complex team. * Leadership and team development skills, high levels of energy and team engagement. * Experience of working with colleagues to offer coaching and mentoring to enhance their skills. * Excellent organisational and communication skills utilising tact and discretion as required. * Driven to deliver solutions, ideas and innovations in a positive and pragmatic way. * Passionate about quality and best practice whilst driving continuous improvement. * Must have a methodical approach to problem solving. * Must be a good communicator and have excellent fluency in spoken and written English. * Strong communication skills, organisational awareness and impact. * Must have good appreciation of the bigger picture when considering tasks and their likely impact(s) on internal customers and other departments. * Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment * Excellent IT literacy, being a competent user of MS office * Ability to build and maintain rapport with internal and external customers / suppliers * Good interpersonal and team working skills * Self-motivated and resourceful.
