Job Description

The Role Digital Apprenticeships: 21 Posts, Levels 3, 4 & 6 Hackney Council's award-winning apprenticeship programme has been designed to create quality opportunities for Hackney residents and school leavers. All of our apprenticeships last at least 13 months and combine paid work, training, and study towards a recognised qualification in a relevant subject. As an apprentice with us, you will earn at least the London Living Wage, and get a package of support including additional learning and development, and help to progress into a job or further apprenticeship. Over two thirds of our apprentices stay with Hackney Council. Following a successful first intake in 2018, we are now advertising 21 digital apprenticeships from advanced level (Level 3) to higher (Level 4) and degree apprenticeships (Level 6). Digital sectors are among the fastest growing and best-paid in London and more generally across the country. Many of these apprenticeships are in non-technical subjects like Project Management, Data Analysis and Management Consulting, so may be suitable for you even if you don't consider yourself a 'techie'! We also have more technical apprenticeships in subjects like Software Development, Cyber Intrusion, and Infrastructure, but no prior experience is required. You will spend 20% of your time working towards your qualification or taking part in training and development activities, with the remaining time spent gaining work-based experience. Level 3 Apprenticeships - Scale 2 (starting salary 22,398) You do not need prior qualifications to apply for these apprenticeships. If you don't already have a GCSE at C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification), you will be required to take a short English and Maths assessment to ensure you are able to complete functional skills at the required level by the end of the apprenticeship. If you have special educational needs, you will be eligible for these apprenticeships if you are able to achieve English and Maths at Entry Level 3 by the end of the apprenticeship. ICT Support Apprentice - 3 Posts Digital Support Technician Level 3 Qualification, Two Years About Us This is an apprenticeship within the ICT Service Support team. The team provides support to all users of the Council's ICT systems, including telephone and online support as well as face-to-face and desktop support. You will learn to provide technical support for all aspects of personal computing to users across the Council. Infrastructure Apprentice - 2 Posts Infrastructure Technician Level 3 Qualification, Two Years This is an apprenticeship within the ICT Infrastructure Team. The team are responsible for the Council's ICT infrastructure, covering servers, networks and databases. You'll be learning to provide technical support to users across the Council. Level 4 Apprenticeships - Scale 4 (starting salary 23,628) To apply for these apprenticeships, you must already have: - at least two A-Level passes or another Level 3 qualification e.g. apprenticeship, NVQ, BTEC Extended Diploma OR - 2+ years' work experience in a relevant field. Cyber Security Apprentice - 1 Post Cyber Intrusion Analyst Level 4 Qualification, Two Years This is an apprenticeship within ICT's architecture and security team. You will be learning to detect and protect our network from security incidents which will range from breaches, to viruses and other malicious code. Data & Business Support Apprentice (Young Hackney) - 1 Post Data Analyst Level 4 Qualification, Two Years Please note, this role will require an Enhanced DBS check. This is an apprenticeship within Young Hackney, which is the Council's Early Help and Prevention Service for young people. You will learn to identify, assess and resolve data quality issues and make recommendations to ensure information is correctly recorded. Delivery Apprentice - 2 Posts Associate Project Manager Level 4 Qualification, Two Years This is an apprenticeship within the HackIT Delivery Team, who are responsible for the delivery of the Council's portfolio of digital projects. Key Accountabilities You will learn to provide advice and guidance on individual project proposals and plans, use appropriate software to set up work breakdown structures and project networks, and administer project and programme change control. Product Apprentice - 1 Post Junior Management Consultant Level 4 Qualification, Two Years You will assist staff in the Delivery and Performance Team with the provision of project and portfolio management.
