Job Description

To ensure that Leica Biosystems Melbourne systems and Newcastle products are supported effectively by well-trained field support representatives in all regions while also providing technical leadership to the Global Support team, and to ensure that LBS customers hold the product reliability and support functions in high regard. * Subject matter expert, with a sound understanding of histology laboratory workflow including instrument setup, training, optimisation and troubleshooting of instrumentation designed and manufactured at the Melbourne facility. * Subject matter expert, with immunohistochemistry experience including antibody staining and scoring and troubleshooting of reagents designed and manufactured at the NCL facility. * Act as the field specialist / customer advocate for all reagent, instrument and applications related issues reported from the field. * Monitor and review daily escalations (level 3) through email and phone calls to provide rapid response for troubleshooting, including resolution recommendations to the sales regions and channel partners. * Applies experience and comprehensive technical knowledge to provide application support to resolve complex issues. This includes analyse of antibody staining patterns, instrument log files/reports and data/pictures to determine possible root causes. * Support global high priority escalations as required, at site (international travel may be required at short notice). * Work closely with the Science teams, R&D, Supplier Quality and Production teams to analyse failure modes and determine countermeasures for containment and field actions. * Develop, maintain and deliver technical training packs (globally) and support plans for standardised applications and troubleshooting for new and current NCL products (working closely with Product Management). * Create, review and deploy Technical Service Bulletins and memos to instruct support teams on change implementation to instrument configuration in the field. * Performs research to generate analytical data for internal and/or external clients for Clinical and Research applications. * Support for the investigation of new technologies and experimentation directed at the practical application of scientific theories * Assures that programs meet scientific objectives and are aligned with customer needs A successful candidate will possess: * A qualified Scientist with 3+ years experience and a broad understanding of various histology disciplines * Responsive and quick thinking with superior problem diagnosis and solving skills. * Excellent leadership, interpersonal and people management skills and able to gain buy in and influence / drive product changes * Sound judgement with ability to balance business and customer needs and appropriate attention to detail, with a risk management focus and sense of urgency * Excellent communication skills, verbal and written and able to communicate across various levels internally and at customer sites * Excellent and innate engineering and scientific aptitude * Positive, energetic and self-motivated, able to autonomously as well as part of a team * Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to a high level * Good time management skills with flexibility with regards to working hours to facilitate occasional global calls Highly Desirable (but not essential): * Previous knowledge or experience in medical equipment * Previous experience with FDA and/or ISO standards * Histology Background (Routine staining, IHC, histology workflow) * Advanced project administration and management skills To Apply: Leica Biosystems is committed to attracting and retaining the most highly qualified candidates available.
