Experience rehabilitation psychiatry in a psychologically-focused service with opportunities to work as part of a team providing holistic care to support patients with complex care needs. Cygnet Alders Clinic is a CQC-rated 'Good' (Outstanding for 'Caring') 20-bed community-based inpatient rehabilitation service providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for women with complex needs, trauma, attachment difficulties and personality disorder. The service delivers a personalised and integrated approach involving a combination of psychological, pharmacological and rehabilitation interventions. We are recruiting for a Full-Time Specialty Doctor (1 in 6 remote on call). Potential to consider Part-Time or Flexible Working. The Opportunity... As a Specialty Doctor you will have clinical responsibility for patients under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for adult women with a complex trauma history and diagnosis of personality disorder. You will work as part of a close-knit and caring team to include Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Support Staff, Allied Health Professionals and Management. In this role you will carry out mental state examination of newly admitted patients; assessment; appropriate investigation; physical health screening; diagnosis and treatment under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist. You will be confident in assessing a wide range of psychiatric disorders alongside a supportive multi-disciplinary team and there will be a role for liaison with GP's and local hospital services as indicated. You will participate in weekly ward rounds and other multidisciplinary meetings, ensuring that full and up-to-date clinical information is available and there will be the opportunity to work alongside other disciplines in the delivery of care and treatment. As this role involves working with patients who may be frequent users of GP/General Hospital services and display multiple physical health comorbidities, the ideal candidate may have a General Medical or GP background or Psychiatry background with experience/interest in aspects of General Medicine. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge both in medical and psychological treatments whilst actively participating in service improvement and development in a highly specialist hospital setting. Are you the successful candidate we are looking for? You will have... * Full GMC registration and an MBBS (or equivalent) medical qualification * Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice along with Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity * The ability to demonstrate sound clinical judgment/experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk and know when to seek help * Excellent verbal/written communication skills along with the ability to interview, assess and treat patients and write clear comprehensive medical notes * Proven record of CPD (Continued Professional Development) * The ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team * Desirable: Section 12 * Desirable: Royal College of Psychiatrists membership (MRCPsych) or equivalent Why Cygnet?
