Job ID 845590 Summary As Product Development Assistant you will be supporting the Head of Design in the development of seasonal menswear collections. Working from initial design through to gold seal samples ensuring all design, raw materials and samples are accurately documented and managed in line with the critical path, whilst maintaining proactive and clear communication with suppliers, manufacturers and the team. This role is ideally suited to a recent fashion graduate with a minimum 9-12 months internship experience. This inspiring sustainable menswear brand focuses on fabric, fit and finish to make pieces that bring a wardrobe together, with emphasis on style over fashion, to create clothes that should be lived in. Main responsibilities Fabric & Trim Development First point of contact for fabric mills outside of Thailand. Organise meetings with fabric mills and agents (mainly PV and London) for the Head of Design. Source fastenings and trims as required. Gather, maintain and update all fabric and trim selections and price these accordingly, including lead times, minimums, sample and bulk pricing, availability etc. Create and update coded fabric cards for fabrics used in the collection. Organise archive boxes for fabrics, trims, samples and label boxes clearly. According to the line plan place fabric orders with suppliers. Liaise with the production office on fabric meterage quantity. Organise DHL pick-up's as required. Product Development First point of contact for manufacturers outside of Thailand. Maintain close contact with the Thailand office production department to ensure smooth running of the product development cycle. Attend weekly product meetings, write and circulate meeting minutes and follow up on new tasks. Ensure all design decisions are adhered to by the manufacturers by proactively following up and checking in with them. Ensure all fabrics and development samples adhere to the critical path. Monitor sampling and production product costs and flag any variances. Create development and SKU codes. Critical Path Manage the development critical path for all fabrics and development samples collaborating with the Head of Design and management team. Prototypes and Fittings Organise prototype fittings. Assist with measuring garments before fittings if required. Assist Head of Design in fittings, write fit comments and follow up notes and alterations to garments as required. Send samples to the Thailand product office or designated manufacturer as required, create a packing list and organise DHL pick ups. Line Plans Assist the Head of Design in updating the Line Plans as required. Ensure the line plan information is in line with the critical path. Ensure that all prototype and Gold Seal Sample dates are correct. Add fabric information, (prices, minimums, lead times, etc) for fabric samples as required. Add fabric swatches and colour indications to the public-printed Line Plan as required. Tech Packs Assist Head of Design in creating tech packs when required. Input SKU codes. Setup Tech pack template files. Create measurement diagrams when required. Input label placement diagram, create as required. Maintain excellent organisation of files on Google Drive. Once the Tech Pack is complete and information is correct save as a PDF. Send Tech Pack PDFs to relevant manufacturers, explain key details by email. Maintain good and organised communication with manufacturers throughout the development process, being proactive and liaising by phone and email. Care Labels and Miscellaneous Create and order care labels for each collection. Assist with promotional material, business cards, postcards, swing tags, adverts. Essential Skills A minimum 9-12 months Product Development experience gained through internships working in a hands-on capacity in a similar role for a luxury clothing brand. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superb organisational skills, attention to detail and eye for accuracy. Experience in tech pack building. Proactive in ensuring all product related data is accurate and all changes updated. Good understanding of garment construction. Experience sourcing raw materials and gathering information on pricing, lead times and minimums. Strong understanding of the critical path. Good understanding of manufacturing and production. Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Google Suite, MS Word, Excel.
