Overview

Linux Engineer / Linux Administrator - Circ £40,000 - £50,000 Bens Linux Engineer / HPC Support Engineer / Linux Systems Administrator required to support High Performance Computing in a greenfield environment. Our Client based in the Northamptonshire countryside (close to Towcester, Northampton, Buckingham and Milton Keynes ), is already a major player in their sector but being a player is not enough. As a member of this small HPC team you will be involved in supporting & delivering all aspects of a high performance computing environment to ensure optimisation of the environment and related components to achieve high performance of the primary applications supported. This will include: Delivery of new or improved HPC solutions Installation, configuration and administration of operating systems and applications Implementation, configuration and administration of hardware platforms Maintaining operations & administration processes Prioritising important tasks to be completed on project task lists or service desk queue Logging and tracking of project issues and risks Logging and tracking of service desk calls Maintaining and supporting change management processes Monitor and test HPC system performance and provide performance statistics and reports Creating scripts as required To be considered for the role we would expect you to be able to offer at least 4 / 5 years' IT systems support experience with at least the last 18 months working as an HPC Support Engineer / Linux Support Engineer, specifically we would expect you to offer most if not all of the following: Strong relevant operating systems experience (Linux/CentOS etc.) Knowledge of cluster management and scheduling systems such as GridEngine / Saltstack Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools such as Zabbix / Grafana Familiarity with TCP/IP network protocols and configuration - InfiniBand would be useful Experience of storage technologies and file systems such as GPFS / Lustre Knowledge of Bash scripting tools As well as providing you with a great platform to develop your skills and experience our client can reward you with an salary in the region of £40,000 - £50,000 depending on experience (will consider slightly higher for outstanding candidate), plus a good benefits package that includes an attractive car leasing scheme and bonus.
