Overview

A well established retail business have a new role due to their continued expansion and are looking for a Finance Manager. Based on the outskirts of Ascot in a beautiful remote location. Job Purpose To ensure the accounting function meets all statutory requirements, is run in an efficient and effective way. To deliver the company's professional and commercial philosophy. To ensure the delivery of timely and accurate management accounts. To provide guidance and training to direct reports, including professional development. Key Tasks Lead and develop the Accounts team. Ensure that the company's financial systems, processes and procedures are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth. As part of the management team to ensure that the financial position of the practices are accurate, timely, relevant and understood. Finance Oversee the bank / balance sheet reconciliations; ensure TB is clean and accurate. Oversee the data entry and reconciliation of sales ledger and purchase ledger; ensure paperwork is compliant and accurate. As part of the management team manage the debtors positions of branches Oversee and submit quarterly VAT returns. Make all supplier payments in line with the company policy & procedures. Oversee the preparation of the monthly payroll for Stores monthly payroll processing; responsible for the processing of Head Office payroll. Oversee the pension submission and make necessary payments. Make all statutory tax payments to relevant bodies. Oversee the production of accurate and timely management accounts; review results and provide relevant commentary e.g. analyse margins, stock movement, profitability, forecasts / targets. Create and monitor the weekly cash flow forecast. Prepare performance KPI's. Liaison with external accountants regarding preparation of year end accounts. Prepare all financial reports as and when requested by the business. Ensure budgets loaded into Xero. Visits to the branches to provide training and guidance on new and existing finance processes and ensure submission of correct financial information. HR Manage and develop new and existing direct reports, including performance reviews, appraisals, professional development and mentoring. Oversee roles and responsibilities of accounts team and ensure cover for roles as appropriate. Monitor sickness and holiday requests. Liaising with third party HR to assist with employee matters. Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience Be a qualified or part-qualified accountant. Excellent eye for detail. Excellent communications skills, both verbally and orally. Good all-round IT skills. An analytical and logical approach to problem solving. Commercial awareness and interest in the optical industry. Ability to work on your own initiative. Useful but not essential.
